My relationship with her isn't the result of teen drama years (and trust me we had our fair share of that) or anything of that sort. She does not treat me like any mother would treat their daughter. She and my brothers are VERY dysfunctional and i don't fit into their life. My dad didn't either. We survived by keeping our mouths shut and staying in our bedrooms away from the rest of the family. It seemed like every time i set foot out of my room i'd end up in tears because they would say horrible things and call me names just to upset me. She tells me that she can't stand me. She and my brothers laugh at me and taunt me with the fact that I "can't go cry to dad now" when they upset me.
I have since moved out and things are a little better but i have to keep them at a distance for my own sanity.
Despite all of that I have tried with her. If i try to tell her how much I'm hurting she just tells me that i need to stop doing this to myself and just get over it already. As if I have any control over it...
This particular visit was just because I felt like I needed to go. While it is still painful there is something therapeutic about being there. I guess because while I'm there I just cry and let it all out.
Hope that helps. Hugs to you.
It's so hard to find someone who understands where I am coming from. I'm too old to be in a group focused on teens (Im 24) although I live at home, but so many adult groups are people who have lost their children or their parents at a older age.
Sending a Hug
I've been trying to not think about it and just focus on spending time with the friends that I do have. It helps but I feel like it's just a bandaid. What I need is support and that's really hard when I feel like I can't talk or I'm just being a downer.
