second time

hi everyone i'm new to this forum...didn't know it was here in ds...i have bells palsy for the second time in two years and i'm scared to take the meds due to liver problems...this is realy scarey

this is my second time as well with my first episode being just a year ago. im finding the headache this time more severe. the first time i did the antivirals and steroids, this time steroid injection only. i understand you being scared, i am too. at least we have some type of idea what to expect. you can lean on me.

I also had it twice once on each side. The second time was less severe both physcially and emotionally because I knew what to expect and allowed nature to take its course. I still have residual eye twitches and facial fatigue occasionally, but I'm good. Try to rely on what you already went through to make it less scary. While it's still a dark maze, remember you made it through one time, rely on your senses and you'll makei t through again!

This is the second time i get it as well. I really, really wasn't expecting that. The first time it happend was in the spring of 2006. It only lasted three weeks then.

This time around, it has been worse though--the migraines being more intense and nerve pain has been bad at times, particularly in my eye for some reason. I'm going on a little over three months now, but see the progress. It's going slow but sure! I have OI and a hearing problem too which i somehow thought made it all worse. I felt scared too, but most of that fear is leaving me now.

Like the other guys here said, you made it through the first time, you'll make it through again.

I have had it twice also. My first time was a lot milder case of Bell's Palsy. My last case came only a year after the first and was on my left side (the first on the right). I have a lot of residual damage from the most recent. It has been almost three years and I still can't lift my eyebrow, move the bottom lip on my left side and have a very crooked smile. I also have crocodile tears out of my left eye every time I eat. This disease is so scary. I am sorry you are going through this again. I read somewhere that a lot of women get it after giving birth, so when I got pregnant last year I was TERRIFIED that I would get it for a third time. Gratefully I did not get it giving birth!!!! I hope you are doing well and recover quickly. I wish there was more research on this disease.
