Wetting his pants during the day.

Hi everyone. I wanted to give you all an update on my older son. He is still wetting his bed at night but fortunately the Abena Junior diapers are working very well. What has me worried is he has now been wetting his pants during the day and he doesn’t seem concerned. The not being concerned is what bothers me more than the actual wet pants. I just can’t imagine any 12 year old boy wetting there pants and not caring. Have any of you experienced that? This morning when cleaning him up from his wet night diaper we went ahead and put him in a new diaper and explained that he will be in diapers till day wetting stops. I really thought this would bother him but it really didn’t. I just don’t get it. In my first post someone mentioned regression. I really blew it off but now I’m wondering. It’s become the routine to diaper both boys together  after there bath and then clean them up in the morning. Started off Jacob was supposed to take off his wet diaper and clean himself up in the morning but over the past few weeks it has transitioned into diapering and changing the boys together. I wondering if that was a big mistake. It was purely a convenience and Jacob didn’t care anyway. By lunch today his diaper was soaked. When I asked him why he didn’t tell us he needed to go or why he didn’t just go to the bathroom and go he just shrugged his shoulders. He is allowed to take off his diaper anytime he needs to use the restroom and we will help him put it back on. You all were so very helpful with my first post I’m really hoping some of you have some ideas for this. Feel free to reply or message me directly.

Update. Got him into the pediatrician. She tested for uti and some other things but everything was negative. She said she sometimes, but not often at all, sees kids who are really growing fast and there bladders can’t keep up and mussels are stretched from the growing so rapidly have some very infrequent issues for a short time, but we don’t think that is it as he is not really growing much right now. Fortunately the day time accidents have decreased a little some days no accidents and others 1 or 2. It’s almost like he is just being lazy or doesn’t want to stop what he is doing to go to the bathroom. Just like my 3 year old. I swear sometimes it’s like I have 2 toddlers.

Hi Jessica it’s good you took him to his doctor and they did some checking to rule out something medical for the most part. From reading what you wrote and I seen it with a friend’s daughter12-13 years ago With her (which she admitted to later) was that when they switched from goodnites to diapers, cause she was around nine and the goodnites leaked basically every night so the laundry was just as much as when she didn’t have protection on. And she didn’t want to take responsibility for helping clean it up. They had a younger child also, when they switched her to diapers she was kinda regression some, not to a baby but was enjoying the extra attention she was getting from mom. And like your child she started having accidents during the day as well, little one at first then progressively got worst. They ended up putting her back in diapers all the time until they kinda figured out what was going on. They let it play out for a few weeks until one day they were out and decided she needed to be changed. They were out in public and her mom made a production of it by announcing in public in front of some kids her age that they needed to change her. Then she pulled out her diaper and led her daughter by the hand to the bathroom and changed her on the changing station.. pretty much after that the accidents slowed down and she was only at night after that.

I know it was kinda long but it probably just a phase he’s going through, you might even go along with it for a couple weeks and go from there. Their daughter just needed to be embarrassed a little to figure out it wasn’t worth it. But who knows this is just what I’ve seen before.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
