Summer Time

Ok, so summer is beginning in full bloom in the US.  This is the most dreadful season for me as a bed wetter.  I always seem to wake up very hot and uncomfortable in the mornings.  I am wondering why these companies that supply diapers or pull-ups do not make these types of protection summer friendly.  If you are not following these are very warm and uncomfortable to wake up too.  So I guess I have two questions.  One is for the companies that produce these products, why don't they make them cooler in terms of not waking up so hot that they are unconfortable in the morning.  It gets hot and humid in the midwest.  Then my second question is, how do people cope with heat and humidity?  


I'm a deep sleeper during the night so I don't wake up during the night, but waking up with a sauna around your private parts is very uncomfortable in the morning.  The only solution I've found is sleeping with a fan on all night.  I'm looking for suggestions to ease this!  Even though wearing protection is better than waking up to a soaking wet bed in the morning.

Fore me I suffer from diaper rash\heat rash, being a guy I sometimes wear a condom catheter,for yourself may be a foley catheter or intermittent catheter,it may be good to ask your doctor about it.

Thank you wetr for your input. I would rather wear a diaper or some other protecection than a catheter. If that works best for you, continue! I guess my personal preference is to wear protection.

myabe you need a fan or air con for your room. where i live it never gets like more than about like 25 degrees in the middle of summer so its never really been a prolbem for me.

I would say from experience to stay away from plastic backed disposables or plastic pants. Yes cloth backed aren't quite as secure but if you can find a good breathable alternative or even quality absorbent training style pants, you may find it more comfortable if you're willing to compromise a little on absorbancy. Best bet is look online rather than going for store/shelf brands. I'd hate to say this here but don't be afraid of abdl sites, as most have plain white unprinted options and are usually far superior quality than you can get at the store, hope this helps :)

I have fan in my room. And I just wear a shirt no pants over my diaper sometimes not shirt either. My mom got me the big kind with 2 tapes on both sides but they were out so she got the old kind with 1 tape I think size 7 and I can tell they are not as hot as big ones with 1 tape.

Of course it’s a trade off between absorbency and thickness. Depends does make what they’re marketing as a night defense overnight pull up but I’ve never tried it. I’m honestly kind of doubtful it would offer the protection I need. Talcum powder inside your diaper can absorb some of the sweat and moisture in summer. It happens, yup. Not a lot else you can do.

Thank you everyone for their input! I do usually sleep with a fan. I guess I had to rant out loud my frustration of why they don't make them cooler to wear in the summer time.

Ughhh....I know this problem too well myself. Im 16 and still wear plastic covered disposable diapers to bed, quite a bit too all day too. I just wear a light and short sleep short to bed, nothing really over my diaper. I hate the feeling of my skin in my diaper in the morning, makes it hard to fall asleep too if it's especially warm in your diaper. Wetting in your diaper during the night just makes it worse! I just think of cooler weather in fall, lol. I do switch my sheets from flannel sheets in the winter to silky sheets in the summer, it helps a tiny bit I think. I do use Summers Eve Island Splash body powder in my summertime diapers a lot! It smells nice and I guess kinda helps with the sweating. Nothing really helps though. Its worse wearing one in the day and getting in a hot car!! I sweat so much worse once the hot car seat heat gets thru my diaper. I hope tho you've been having a fun summer! ~hugs~

I read that some people put sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) instead of talc. I know that sodium bicarbonate is like a magic ingredient : you can eat it to cure some diseases, wash your body with it, use it as a deodorant... It's indicated to cure many skin problems (eczema, psoriasis, and... diaper rash!)
I think there is sodium bicarbonate in the powder Cassiec told us about.
Which of you already tested it?
