You don't say how old your kids are. For some people "older kids" might mean 7 and 9,for others it means 13 and 16.

I know with my stepdaughter, baby diapers and pullups worked until she was about 8. Then we needed to start looking for youth diapers. This was a while back though, and there weren't very many good ones in the market.

If you can give the ages of your kids, it would help alot.

I knew I was forgetting something. Yes they are 7 and 10. As to there sizes they are both on the small side for there age. The 7yo still fits into some 5t clothes and the 10yo is kinda between small and medium so size 6-8. I appreciate any help.

Diapers leaks less than pull-ups. Youth diapers can absorb more urine than baby diapers. So it depends on how much urine she produces at night.

I would recommend to test first baby diapers for nighttime (cheaper) and if it doesn’t work to put her in youth diapers. During daytime pull-ups can be enough and it’s better to potty train her.

I wrote you a long DM reply without seeing the responses. For the youngest, baby diapers should almost certainly do the job since she's still in the size range and the goodnights are probably leaking around the legs because they aren't tight enough. Do regular toddler pullups still leak?

The older one is right on the cusp.

Both will likely resent going to taped diapers because they will probably feel they are more babyish and it takes away some autonomy.

Can dad help? If he's around, then having a shit down with then and explaining that you're going this way because they are just wetting too much for goodnites, not because you think they are babies is a good first step. However, if dad is available to be the one to diaper them every night, that could help. It could help them feel more private about it and that it is a guy thing. I know not all dads are around though.

Here's the potentially awkward question. With both boys wetting, it is extremely likely either you or their father also wet past the age of 6. If that parent could be honest with them and discuss the issue and how it was handled in their childhood, it may help.

Thank you so much for the message and response on here. I really do appreciate it. We never did use toddler pull ups. We just went straight from diapers to underwear during the day for my little boy and from diapers to goodnites at night when he was almost 6. Maybe they are to big.

As to the last question, yes my husband did wet the bed till he was I think 8. But our pediatrician says bed wetting is very common with adhd and day wetting and late potty training with autism. So it’s probably a combination of it all.

Today at the store I could not find youth diapers so I asked the pharmacist, he said they don’t carry them but they did have pampers size 7 that he recommended. We will give those a try this tonight and see how they fit and work.

I'm glad the Pampers size 7 worked for you. If you need to go up a size again in the future, you may bed do order online. Buying from brick and mortar stores generally won't work for conditions like this.
