Bedwetting Support Group
Bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis or sleepwetting) is involuntary urination while asleep. It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Find others who are coping with a bedwetting problem and share your experiences and questions.
I can sympathize with you, I usually only have 2-4 wet nights a week and that's frustrating enough! Best of luck!
I would love to know.
Anyway not until I was in my 30s did I have my doctor suggest an urologist. He did a through eurodynamic study and it was discovered I had a neurogenic bladder, likely since birth. The doctor said basically my bladder reacts “like a babies” and I never had any chance of solving my nightly wetting and daily leaking problems. I only wish I had the diagnosis when I was young so I wouldn’t have beat myself up every morning waking up in a wet diaper. The doctor did say this wasn’t done when I was a teenager probably because without injury or a birth defect like spina biffida it is rare to have this condition.
I have felt so ashamed and embarrassed about my lifelong bed wetting that it has hindered me fully engaging in life. I have slowly been trying to come to terms with it over the last few years, which resulted in making more effort to go and speak to the Dr. This has led to me being diagnosed with OAB which has helped immensely alleviate some mental stress i have been experiencing for so many years. Now I am trying to reverse the feeling of shame and embarrassment I feel when it happens, but being physically and verbally abused when I was younger when it would happen, I know I still have more barriers to overcome, but finding the courage to speak to someone, especially a medical professional is such a major step towards peace of mind.
I hope you have had positive outcomes from this courageous step.
