Cure by Punishment ?

I wonder how many of us bedwetters suffered or suffer "cures by punishment" from our adult caregivers as children or adults? For example: 1 face rubbed in wet bed 2 doing own laundry and hanging out to dry 3 spankings or beatings 4 shamed in front of visitors or nieighbours or strangers 5 shamed in shops buying own protection 6 cold bath with tell-tale disinfectant odour - the list could be endless ...! The thesis would always be: "this cure will teach you NOT to wet the bed!!" For me attempts at home/boarding school/army were always being made to cure me, with NO success.....They all leave their mark and memory.

Some of these are applicable to me, but I don’t think my parents done them to intentionally shame me or believing it would cute me, the washing and hanging out my own sheets was one, but apparently it was to teach me to take responsibility for my accidents and myself,

I often had to carry my nappies around the store while my mother was doing the shopping but it was to free up space in the cart,

Sometimes I was shamed in-front of family and visors etc, but i as far as I’m aware it wasn’t on purpose, it was more like getting told nappy time in front of them if they happened to be there when it was typically time to get my nappy put on which Is what she would have said regardless wither we had visitors or not, also changed in-front of them, but was just because I got changed in living room and pjs on always,

Needless to say if I’m wrong and it was to purposefully embarrass. And shame with possibility of curing me, it did embarrass but certainly didn’t cure

OMG. Brings back some memories. I had my face rubbed. In my wet bed and. I had to wash out my wet bedding and hang it out to dry also had a few spankings. And. My mum. Told others about my bed wetting. If my mattress got wet and it was hot it would be put outside to dry and for all to see

I have never made a big deal about his day and night wetting. It is not his fault and I believe showing support is better than punishment.

My punishments included having my face rubbed in my wet sheet. Having my mattress on the lawn for all to see and been made to sleep in the same wet smelly bed for several nights.

I have been a bedwetter my whole life and I grew to in a orphanage where Bedwetting was frowned upon every morning when you woke up your bed was checked to see if it was wet and if it was wet you had to strip your bed and take the wet sheets off and take them to the wash house and wash your sheets by hand and hang them out to dry part of the punishment was to leave your bed unmade with the rubbersheet for every one to see

I wasn't exactly punished as I didn't wet my bed, but my Mom said that a great aunt, when babysitting, saidn "If you wet your pants, I will beat you."." I guess that was a powerful incentive.
