Bedwetting Support Group
Bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis or sleepwetting) is involuntary urination while asleep. It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Find others who are coping with a bedwetting problem and share your experiences and questions.
What do you mean the doctor said you don't have too many options?
You can train your bladder to hold more urine by drinking lots of water during the day and "holding" even when you really want to go...
You can train your body to wake up and random times at night in order to urinate. You can do this with a regular clock or use an enuresis alarm: http://bedwettingalarm101.com/
You can also try medication: http://petraskidsposts.tumblr.com/
Even thought drugs are not a long term solution.
By the way, did the doctor do any tests? Bedwetting in adults may be the symptom of another more serious condition, eg: diabetes.
I feel you! and I'm sorry you go though this
obviously there are some tips and trick you can do to minimize the issue so I will tell you what I know
1. invest in waterproof bed. there are beds that don't absorb moisture yet are very comfy to sleep on this way you will not be worried about ruining the matress
2. cut the caffeine from your diet once and for all. if you drink coffee/ soda/tea stop drinking because caffeine can increase the adrenaline causing you to pee every few hours specially if you have anxiety or depression.
3. don't drink water or juice before bed at least 3 or 4 hours before sleeping this will your bladder time to fill up with urine just in time before bed making you sleep with empty bladder.
4. set an alaram at 3AM. I find it better at 3 AM because it's usually the time that we sleep halfway through our sleeping time routine so It will reduce the chance of wetting the bed that way.
5. don't sleep in an extremely cold room! wear socks and stay warm because sleeping in cold place makes you want to pee a lot .
and lastly don't beat yourself up over it. it's not your fault .
try my advice for a month and see if they will do you any good then let me know ^_^
Try and hold your pee for longer period during the day
Stop consuming alcohol, incase you drink
Use alarms at an interval of every 4 hours when you sleep.
Apart from these remedies, you can also consult an experienced bedwetting consultant. A friend of mine got his bedwetting treated with the aid of Enuresis Treatment Center. It took him 3 months to reduce his bedwetting habits by almost 80%. And yes, Adult diapers are a good option!
