Mom used to be more subtle, it was just “Robin, Bed time”.
The worst daily moment was when I used to sleep without any protection but my rubber sheet. Doctors said “without diapers, he’ll soon outgrow his bedwetting issues”. (I’m still waiting) On sunny days my wet sheets were put to dry by the window. Everyone in the neighborhood could tell what happened during nighttime… such a shame.

I used to run home from school to take in sheets/PJs drying out the window above the front door, before any kids would come round to the house to play!

Happily such shaming moments are over. I’m still a bedwetter, but I wear diapers. Sometimes my diaper leaks but it doesn’t require a whole day drying.

@Maria As you don’t wet every night, why don’t you wear protective pants ? They look like drynites training pants but for adults. You can reuse the same pants as long as it’s not wet. Good luck.

I was in the yard with other neighborhood kids and was not involved but a mom came out of the house and went to the clothesline and took diapers and rubber pants off and started towards the house saying to her child, ok it's time to get ready for bed.

Mines wasn’t daily but more a weekly occurrence when my mother would take me to do weekly shop with her, and she would have a full trolley buy the time we got to the toiletries aisle and she’d have me carry my big kid nappies around rest of shopping and to checkout to save room in trolley, and then I red faced me would place them on the checkout when we were paying for the stuff

A good friend sat on my bed when we were 11 and sad hey why is there plastic on your bed? I didn’t say anything and he then said oh, I know why. I thought I’d die, but he never said anything more about it. Shortly after that his parents got a divorce and he lived with his brother and two sisters with their mom. In high school he started spending weekends at our house as we were into any sports and spent plenty of time, baseball, football, hockey. He would sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor next to my twin bed because I had my own television I had bought myself. Anyway for years I had snuck off to the bathroom before we went to sleep and put m diaper and plastic pants on under my sweat pants. I’d get up early and take off my wet diaper all the time thinking I was disguising everything. Kind of dumb because my plastic mattress cover was still on my bed. Well one night Bob said I’m going to take a shower and off he went. I grabbed the opportunity to pin my diaper on and was in the process of pulling up my plastic pants when he came back into my room having forgotten something. He just said hey sorry, and then went back to the bathroom. I covered myself up under the covers when he came back in and got into his sleeping bag. Silence went on for a few minutes when he said, hey I know you wear diapers for bedwetting and that’s no problem for me! Wow the butterfly’s in my stomach were flying away fast. I never asked him how long he knew I was still in diapers, and it didn’t really matter. He continued to spend most weekends at our house through high school. We never talked about it again but it made it much easier knowing I didn’t need to hide my diapers from him anymore.

Cloth diapers and plastic pants for bedwetting have a fairly long history of use in our family and even today. So, at family holiday get togethers to see 2 or 3 kids with them on at bedtimes was not unheard of and still is not today. Some families just have bedwetting histories.

Remembering the days of bedwetting and being sick and staying home from school staying in bed and sleeping and being kept in diapers and plastic pants all day as well.

At 01am when I realize I have to sleep cause i have school in a few hours. An someone might find out I'm still awake. And the looks of disgust every morning.

I always showed and still show my boy that it’s nit a problem for me at all. I’m glad I could protect him from such bad experiences you had.
