You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
Hi. I'm new to this group. I started pulling me hair out mainly eyelashes and eyebrows when I was 13 years old. I am now in my 40's and am still doing it. I have asked my doctor if there is treatment but she told me te medication would make me slur my words and drool. I don't know if that's true or not. Another doctor told me to put tape over my eyebrows...dumb doctor. lol
Has anyone found any methods that work to stop the yearning to pull out their hair?
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you for lsitening.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

It's difficult to find what works best when without using a journal to help find the patterns of thought, and hand motion.
Stay hydrated. That will give you a better balance in figuring out what is working, too.
And, keep your hands busy with a fidget ball (stress ball or thing), to help change the pattern of the hand going to the eyebrows.
I have one eyebrow grown in after a long hard trial with anxiety. The other eyebrow...still my nemesis, but there is hair growing there, and some of it normal direction, so success is possible!
