Banana Community Group
For people who sometimes feel a bit like a bloody banana! A place for validation, love, hope and warmth, a place for friendship and the sharing of dreams. A place always to feel safe and welcome..also a place for the occassional sprinkling of silliness to lighten the sometimes darkness of our days.
I like John Grisham, loved his book, THE FIRM, made into a movie with Gene Hackman, and Tom Cruise.
I like biography's
Historical non fiction, and fiction.
Wallace Stegner wrote a book called Angle Of Repose.
James Michener is another favorite. Liked The Drifters, and Centennial among others.
In non-fiction, I like books of a metaphysical and spiritual nature. I'm currently reading "Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism" by Chögyam Trungpa. To me, this is an awesome book that is very, very deep if you wish to truly understand what the author (who has a bit of a translation to English challenge) is getting at. Or it could be read through quickly as any other book. What initially hooked me was a quote on the back cover that said "Ego is able to convert everything to its own use, even spirituality." That explains much in the "spirituality for bucks" industry. I've been reading it for about three months. I'm on page 64.
A Very Slow Reader, Guess I
Get Frustrated " !
And those DO sound interesting.
B-my daughter has dyslexia, and tries to read but gets very frustrated too. She likes those Harry Potter books. It is hard on her, I feel for her. I think that it o.k to be a slow reader, I am sorry it is so frustrating for you.
