Tingling down left arm into thumb/index finger

Has anyone had this tingling sensation down their arm and into their
fingers. I also have some tingling down my left leg but that's lighter
and from a lumbar herniated disc. Is this a cervical disc problem ?

I'am decididing if I should see a physiatrist that's a rehab medicine dr
who has good knowledge of neuromuscular conditions. My PcP first
or a neurologist ?

I will probably need an Mri and I'am concerned about the quality .

The tingling comes and goes and can get somewhat strong at times.

When I hear about tingling in left arm/hand I would suggest getting to your dr or an urgent care place to be checked out..just incase...

Thanks Annette but its been 5 weeks now. It dosent seem to be my heart area as you may have been referring !

Oh ok...hmm lets see what other germs could be the cause...does sound like perhaps a pinched nerve-have you seen a back dr lately?

It could be a pinched cervical nerve. I had surgery in 2000 for a herniated cervical disk. The tingling was in my little and ring finger.

I have that from my cervical spine...I am going to a physical therapist after my ortho dr told me I have a herniated disc and some arthritis in my neck as well. I was in a car accident in May and I was hit from behind, and yes I had my seat belt on. But the pain radiated down my left arm from my neck right into my left thumb and the thumb was even hurting like crazy. Get to an ortho dr and get an mri to see what is going on...Good Luck to you

I've had it a few times and mine has come from discs pressing on the nerves in my neck. I have had 2 cervical surgeries and still have numbness.

You're not having shortness of breath or are you? If you're experiencing any shortness of breath with that, I would say go to the ER right away, but if it's just pain and numbness, then I would say to see a Neurosurgeon about it. You don't want to wait too long because something is pressing on a nerve and the longer it does, the more chance it becomes permanent damage. I have some numbness that never goes away. It drives me nuts.

I hope it's not a disc and just a pinched nerve. Hopefully it something that can be healed with some rest and maybe some anti inflammatory medication or steroids to get the swelling down.
