Can sciatic pain move to the front of the thigh? I have sciatica pain often, but today after a long car ride (2 hours) I can barely walk due to the tightness and the pain in the front of my thigh. I have stretched, iced, taken muscle relaxer...just can't get the tightness to give way and the pain is crazy!
Before I had spinal fusion surgery on my L5, S-1 last October 1st, I had what is called ' femoral nerve pain'.. this may be what you are experiencing and I believe it's different that sciatica pain ( which thankfully I didn't have ). It would affect me worse when I sat for long periods too. The pain actually started in my left groin and moved down the inner thigh about to my knee and it would hurt with every step I would take. It was an intermittent thing with me and was caused by bone spurs pushing on that femoral nerve.
I would call your doc and tell him/her about this if it's something new you haven't experienced before.
