Recumbent Bike for Lumbar Pain/DDD

I have to exercise because the more sedentary I am with this nerve pain and leg pain the more weight I gain. Walking is very difficult right now. After a short time I am almost dragging my leg because of the pain. A friend recommended I try a recumbent bike. I used it during PT last year and I don't know if it helped, but overall PT did help.

Does anyone use one? Do you like it? Does it make it better or worse?

Which one did you buy?

Before investing in a large item like that-perhaps see if you can rent one?
Also if you're just looking for the pedal motion-they sell just a small pedal machine which you can sit on the floor to pedal with your feet or on a table to pedal with your hands

when my back was ok and the sciatica wasnt there and steroid shots helped somewhat i did use a stationary bike with a flat seat (used a donut too cause i had broke my tailbone before but then my back got worse and you know no long distance walking anymore even the bike or even walking inside on treadmill... i do well out shopping and leaning on the cart . but the best thing that has helped me is either aquatic therapy or to be in a warm pool and do exercises in pool... can move so much better.. i wish i could live in a warm pool... if you have a local ymca it might be worth checking it out..... good luck.. hope your pain eases up a bit.

I have the type of pedal machine you can put on the floor or table for the arms and I love it. Can't do walking or man other things but this I can. I use it almost everyday. Good luck
