Hi! I'm not a newbie to DS, but I am new to back pain. I injured my right shoulder blade, rhomboid area and my primary doctor suggested that I see an orthopedist.
So I went to the orthopedist, but I think he did something wonky to my arm. I came in only with the rhomboid area pain (right along my lower scapula). He manipulated my arm really forcefully and now the shoulder joint is swollen, hurts, makes a clicking noise, and I lost range of motion. My shoulder blade area is also still messed up.
This was about a week ago and the pain has gotten worse. I called his office and he said it wasn't normal, and that I should not go to PT, and that he'd see me in a couple of weeks to evaluate.
I don't know if I want this guy touching my shoulder again though. I walked in there with one injury, and left with two. And I'm really worried about my shoulder blade area. It looks gross and feels bad :( This guy I saw couldn't tell me what was exactly wrong with it either. He said it could be the muscle or a tendon, and just recommended PT and NSAIDs (which I'm allergic to anyways).
Anyone know a good orthopedist in the WNY area? I'm around Buffalo, NY but I'd be willing to drive around. I scheduled a second opinion with a guy who works through the University at Buffalo, but I have no clue if he's any good or not. I found him online.

If you do "another" search online for your area with the board of meds they have lists of drs/specialists-including about their schooling and if they have had any complaints against them. I'm surprised they aren't doing an MRI before ordering PT
I found another guy through my university's sports clinic. I hope he's okay. He got a mixture of good and bad reviews online, but I didn't see any legal actions.
I think when I go to this new guy I'm going to ask for an MRI. I'm nervous about starting PT without knowing exactly what's wrong back there. He told me to bring a copy of my x-rays with me.
Now I'm just nervous. I hope he doesn't make it even worse.
