No, it's certainly NOT normal. For one thing, a spinal patient should NOT vacuum. That's the worst thing for you, unless you can just walk FORWARD with the vacuum and not do the back & forth motion.

Have you had an MRI of your spine?? You would need one with and without contrast material. Your doctor's statement that "everything should have healed in 6 months" is stupid. if you have a back injury, depending on what it is, it might not heal for a very long time!!! If he didn't order any studies, he can't say that.

Ask your doc for an MRI -- and get a report for yourself too. If you don't understand it - bring it here and post it. We can help. If it sounds bad, you probably need a referral to a Neurosurgeon for an OPINION. Do NOT jump into surgery - just get an opinion first.

the things that you describe such as laundry, sweeping are also some of my triggers. bending is especially horrible if it is repetitive or takes more than 30 seconds. the aggravation that i have during those activities is my the thoracic spine where i have a lot of discs desiccating and a few bulging that are causing mild cord deformity.

your pain sounds so familiar. i encourage you to have new mri's especially a thoracic one to see how you really have healed and if anything new is going on.

a doctor who puts a limit on your healing time may not be the most compassionate about your pain simply because they don't believe you. it might be time to see someone else.

i'm sorry that you're hurting and i hope you can get some help soon. please take care of yourself and try to avoid these situations where you know pain is going to be the end result.

oh that is crap. Surgeons I swear I get so sick of there crap. They calim that surgery is a total cure all, have surgery and that fixes all your problems. I had a knee surgery and it bombed and idoit me wasn't smart enough to walk away. The surgeon was an idiot and never bothered to figure out why my kness are failing he just did two more sugerys which left me knee permenatly destoryed and all because I listen to that crap that surgery is the world cure all.

As for spine issues, well I agree vacuming is not a wise idea hehehe, oh I understand just sitting around all day makes you feel worthless beleive me I know that. I am too stubbon for my own good. I would say get a new mri and then find a really good pain managment doc and get to feeling better

Like Leeall said, that is not normal, and you need to ask your GP to schedule you for an MRI to make sure that nothing is going on, and if the test comes back with issues, you still have time to sue the insurance company of the other driver.
I know that no one likes to hear the word "sue", but when an accident has cause you pain, and you need to spend money on test, Doctor's, med's, etc.. is nice to have someone paying for it. So get that checked out as soon as you can.

Thanks guys! I don't exercise per se, but I am active, I have 3 kids, 2 step kids, 2 dogs, I work full time, etc... so I am always moving - no choice!! After just a few hours it hurts soooo bad, a hot shower & ibuprofen doesn't touch it. My previous MRI's showed: Chiari 1 Malformation, disc dessication, spondyliolisthesis grade 1, dextroscoliosis, fat deposits between T10 & T11 vertebrae. I've had low back pain for years, but got worse after my accident, now my whole spine hurts : / I will call & make an appointment today, we'll see what happens!!

HI, You may want to check a egoscue clinic, they have alignement specialist to help you with the sequels of your car accident. ie. realigned your body ( you may have acquired a different posture due to your accident) with postural stretching, there is also yoga. I have used egoscue techniques for 10 years. he also has a book " pain free " pete egoscue, but better off see someone. who can look at your posture.

Get checked for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I just heard a similar story frrom someone who has it, and Chiari, early-onset spinal degeneration, etc. point to it.
