I am curious to know also, I had spinal fusion and have constant back pain and have thought of investing in one.... The only thing I heard through the asking around was something about " brain aneurysm>sp?"... I would think that would only occur if you hang yourself upside down like a bat for an extended period of time? LOL I will check back to see if anyone has answered!

I did post about this, see Mayo Clinic sez about Inversion Therapy. I have many friends who hae either purchased or made their own and swear by them not at them! Most Insurance Companies will cover them, Even Medicare if you are lucky enough to have such.

In theory, they relieve stress on compressed nerves, stretch out our spines and disks, allowing for increased oxygen to flow into those very disks if they aren't blown or desiccated. In my post I believe I gave a link to one supplier and they have a thirty day free trial after you invest about Fifteen bux. I do a lot of research for a lot of people here, return the info I find along with the reference sources but check out what WebMd has to say about them. Hello madmansmaqi do you know anything about the north american spine institute.I found them on the web and they have a new procedure the accuroscope to repair herniated disc and bone spurs.I have been in touch with then and they first said they would accept my Humana ppo and after going through a complete MRI of the spine it showed that i have 3 herniated disc in the cervical spine pressing on nerves and 3 in the lower lumbar doing the same thing.causing some parisis on the left side and a lot of pain in the neck and back.I finally had to get a ergo bed to get any relief at all.After sending the disk of the MRI to the north american spine institute they teel me my insurance will not cover the procedure,but for 28500.00 they will be glad to do both the cervical and lumbar.This is my only option because i have a blood disorder factor five leiden a bleeding and clotting disorder so i can't have the evasive surgery and this accuroscope procedure would be just what i need.If you know of a way i can get this done and my medicare pay for it that would be great.Thanks for your help.

Have you considered - the inversion can injure you if your heart is weak, or if you have bone spurs in the spine ?

For example - I was told by cardiology that if I used an inversion table (which I wanted to use) that it owuld kill me. Of course, I have a badly damaged heart. But - it certainly is a cution / red light !

I have a inversion table and have found stretching over an exercise ball works just the same.They both loosen my stiff back up. After using them for three years, I still have the same pain in the same area. Save your money and buy an exercise ball.

Thanks for your input, scooter! I have an exercise ball and use it with a DVD for toning and it also includes some back and core exercises. So definitely not going for an inversion table!

We have an inversion table and my wife and I both love it. It really helps if your problem is compressed disks, bulging disks. It can do a lot of damage if you have other sorts of problems though, so you should know what you have going on in there first. But, it you take it slow and easy, you'll be ok. We got ours for about 200 bucks so they are not that expensive. I think they are a great thing for a good majority of back problems, but like I said, find out what is going on in there first so you don't hurt yourself.
