Pain Specialists should have some experiance with pain. I know when I got my spinal injection it shot down my right leg and that pain could be compared to mine...maybe we could inject the doctor on an annual basis. It just seems unfair that so many losers out there have ruined it for those of us that really need meds. I am going crazy to manage my pain so I can still go to work. I am not certain how other are able to do it.
I have had a few surgeries (not back) that required the usual shots of Demerol for a few days. The universally accepted schedule for Demerol is a shot every 4 hours. But after three hours, you start ringing for the nurse. I read in a pain management article that the actual effective time for Demerol is about 2-1/2 hours. The doc who wrote the article said that patients needlessly suffer through the remaining time because some advisory committee arbitrarily made up the 4 hour rule. He called it "barbaric and sadistic".
just do what they say follow all there instructions and do not take meds from other doctors unless they clear it with your PM first...you will be okay...its just for us lifers things have changed so much in just the past few years...you need the help so go
