Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...

I have never heard my wife complain about back pain in 9 years of marrage untill just now when I come up with this stenosis. I'm not denying she has pain, but LOL...She complains worse than I do at times, then complains about me complaining...LOL...
I guess we're all human. Interesting thought though... NO pain is worse than emotional pain. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers.
I just tell my wife to ignore my griping now...works a little...
Take Care..Hugs

When we are in pain, we tend to run short on patience, not meaning to, but we do. Everyone tolerates pain in different ways. Some can tolerate mouth pain, but I will turn into the biggest baby in the world when I am experiencing mouth pain.
Medications can also alter mood, especially opiates. They can alter mood because they alter the perception of pain by the central nervous system.(Usually the mood becomes euphoric) He (your husband) maybe tying your "mood alterations" with your pain medications, and totally disregarding the fact you are actually in pain. Because of the above mentioned, what is painful to him, may not be what is painful to you and vice-versa.
You may also ask him if he has the fear that your going to become addicted to pain medications. When someone is in pain the likely hood they will become addicted is low. It is also important to treat pain before pain becomes severe, when it becomes severe, it is harder to manage and treat effectively with the minimal dose of pain medication.
When my back is hurting me, I try changing my position, (if I am sitting, I will go lie in bed or go take a walk) try a hot bath, icy hot...the when it gets bad, I try something over the counter (Tylenol)....my last resort is my Lortab. I am with you on trying to avoid my pain medication, especially the Lortab because it is a controlled pain medication and I am trying to get back to work. It also causes GI upset for me, so I really prefer not to if I don't have to.
Who knows what anyone else thinks. I can't worry about it anymore. I know I'm in pain - and I know I need the pain meds and I do NOT abuse them. So I guess that's all I NEED to know. Take care. Hugs, Lee
I know that I'm not a ton of fun any more. And I get irratible when I am trying to avoid taking a second pill for the day. Cause yes he does already think I'm addicted. He hasn't said that, but I know he thinks it when he gives me a dirty look when he sees me take them. The difference between needing them because of pain, not because of want is lost on most people.
Thank you for letting me vent. Don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic guy. Helps with everything around the house and I know he loves me. I just get frustrated because no one who has not had constant pain for a long period of time gets it.
I'm glad you guys do.
kinda sounds good eh? Well, we can dream...
