My doctor told me that when you have a bone scan it either shows cancer or it does not, but then I have read that a bone scan can pick up arthritis and other conditions. I am having a bone scan and I am hoping that I don't have to hear that something showed up but we will have to do more testing to see what it is. What has been your experience been?
The test is simple. They first inject the radioactive tracer in your arm and then a few minutes later you will lay down on a table and a machine similar to a CT scanner goes back and forth over your entire body taking pictures. It think this took about 30 minutes if I remember correctly (BTW - - an "open" machine not like a MRI). A week or two later the report came back and said that nothing was found. Made my day, because I had thought for some time that bone scan could be helpful (but I never suggested getting one).
