Hi everyone.

I have spinal stenosis and spondylosis and have been off work for 8 months. I find it very uncomfortable and painful to sit in a chair for 8 hours a day and am really wondering, does anyone else feel like this and what do they do for work?

I don't like being sat at home all day not bringing any money in but I can't sit for too long or do anything really active.

Hi Moose,

I can say I really miss working, I use to be a service consultant at a dealership. With all of my back and neck problems I haven't worked in 18 months now but of course there are a couple of surgeries in that time frame too.

I personally find it hard to sit in any chair besides my recliner, or in the car for a little bit (less than an hour)...

Even stools right now are painful. I was thinking about jobs that don't require too much sitting but I'm coming up blank.

I have the same issue plus nerve compression at L-3 along with fusion at T-1. I ended up having to apply for Social Security. I was approved three days after I dropped off my application at the local office. I find it difficult to sit, stand, walk, or even lie down. I take a handful of medications every 12 hours. I also receive a monthly pension from Worker's Comp. You may find that work is next to impossible. I spent years as a physical laborer and attempted to transition to office manager. That lasted a few months before I had to give that up to. Chiropractic care might help. It works wonders for me. Monday I start acupuncture treatment. I've never had that procedure but I am willing to give it a try.

a firm chair but not a hard chair could help. with arm rests and adjustable height ! loosing weight wont hurt !
