Well, I got my decline from Social Security today. It says I am capable of being a mail clerk, a folding machine operator or a housecleaner.

It seems to me that if your condition has reduced you from a highly paid executive to being a house cleaner (no offense to house cleaners), that the med/voc rule should apply.

I need to get a lawyer, I guess. I thought my case would stand on its own merits and I wouldn't have to fight to get what I think is deserving. Hell, if I could do one of those jobs all day long, I would. At least it might have benefits! But it also states that even if you can do this work part-time, you do not qualify.

Anybody know of a law firm that could help? There is one locally that is supposed to be good, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't use a more high powered one. Anyways, today has not been a good one...

all you need to do is hire one under contingency, and hire one that specializes in disability cases. it doesn't have to be any 'high power' lawyer. just one that does these cases most of the time. they WILL get you approved. it does take a little while, but not as long as if you do it yourself. best of luck, and god bless. hugs, lee

So sorry to hear of your decline. Most of the the workers acceptingor delicing dont care. They have their job so they are getting paid. I agree that if you get a lawyer get one that your pay only if you win (contingency). Both my husband and I are on diability pension here in Australia. They have now revised who will and will not get it it, so we are waiting for the letter to say we are being re-assessed. I believe for those of us who have paid tax all our life and then need suppot we should get it. Good Luck I hope that you have success with receiving your payments. Sharon

So sorry you were turn down. I heard that most people get turn down only very few are excepted right off.
DON'T WORRY THIS IS GOTTEN SO NORMAL TO BE TURN DOWN FIRST.
I been dong my own and a month back I got turn down also.
I hired a lawyer and he told me it could take 12 or 14 months to get aprrove.
Then he thinks I will because how many things I have wrong and my age.
Everyone is different.

SS is working so fast now..........I have a letter going this week to another doctor. Different thing. They didn't look at everything I have wrong. So is the out to get them to work.

I will keep my fingers and prays across for you and others.

Usually everyone gets declined the first time. File an appeal. A letter from your doctor can help a lot.
