hi.  I have not been diagnosed but my son has Asperger and I think I am too, and my father.  I am wondering if other people here get this symptom.  It definitely seems like a neurological problem.  It has become more disabling than anything else.  I feel sound in my body.  Tiny little sounds my kids make, feel like being tapped on from the inside, and it's startling enough that I seem to have a fight or flight response from it.  It's extremely uncomfortable and disturbing.  Sounds like this can wake me up while I'm sleeping, so I have to wear earplugs to bed.  Little cracking sounds in the roof make me jump when I'm in bed settling for sleep.  If it's a sudden thumping sound, it can feel like the concussion of a bomb.  Two people talking at the same time can make me feel panic, and I can't perceive what either of them are saying.  I really don't like talking or most sounds besides Enya, and have become very isolated as a result.  I think maybe I am lonely and depressed from it, but can't get past my aversion.

Does anyone else have this symptom?  When I google it, I get synesthesia popping up, but no one seems to describe what I experience.  They just say things like sounds have color to them.  Or more of a pleasant feeling from sound, which I guess is called ASMR.  I get this only from live bagpipes, which I like as loud as possible and as many playing at a time.  kind of bizarre.  I can't stand crowds as I get that startle feeling in my body when people get too close, almost like being physically assaulted by their proximity, but I will go to Scottish festivals just to hear the bagpipes.
