not eating at daycare (part 2)

I wrote an earlier discussion about my son not eating at daycare. That has gotten a little better, although he rarely (if ever) eats a full lunch at daycare. Yesterday, he ate a full lunch and didn't stop at that. He has done this only once before. Both times, he ate lunch with my daycare provider's teenage son. For some reason, my son has some sort of connection with him. He is really the only "non-child" with whom he will eat with, play with, and mainly associate with. For some reason, he makes connections easier with males, and it's got me a little stumped. Does anyone else have any experience with their child making connections with one gender and not really the other?

I have seen this happen before. Not with my son though. He seems to be able to connect with both male and female. BUT, he connects better with adults.

Yes my oldest does better with male adults then females. He has NOTHING to do with children his own age. He is 13, soon to be 14. He likes adults but will tell you he prefers to be around men than women. I know that we had to change counselors several times because they put him with a female and it just didn't work. Once he got a male cousnselor he did great.
I am not sure why this is for him. I do know that he was treated very badly in public schools and all his teachers were females..and I really do think that had something to do with it.
