well, i dont have any experience or knowledge, but want to offer my support :)

i am still learning a lot about all of this, but i see the food issue mentioned a lot. My son seems to be the other extreme as most children. He eats and eats and eats. and throws a temper tantrum if im eating and dont share my food with him and cries when he finishes his food. food seems to be an instant comfort for him.

sounds like other then daycare, your son has a healthy appetite. i wonder how my son would be at a daycare. i cant imagine him ever refusing food. i think its great your daycare is trying to get him to eat. sounds like they are doing their best.

id say if he is eating well and home and healthy then he should be okay. you are doing great, and he will keep growing up to be more and ore wonderful with each passin day!!

there is an old saying thast i truly believe rings true with all children. they will eat when they are hungry :) BUT this is a real issue. what we did is make sure where ever Adam goes that there is a supplie of pediasure there. we buy the wal-mart brand it is cheaper and there are diff flavors. if he drinks that then atleast we know he is getting his calaries and nutrition. that was back when all adam would eat was goldfish and oreos! i would suggest you get some over the weekend and see if he likes it and if he does take it to day care and tell them to aLWAYS encourage eating but if all else fails to have him drink the pediasure. hope this helps :)

Well I am speaking from personal experience only. Aaron did this when he went to the preschool program. He wouldn't eat and became highly anxious every day at lunch. It was too much commotion and noise during lunch time in the lunch room. They removed him into a room with a one on one teacher and he ate fine. Could it be that your son can't handle the environment at lunch time?

my son has to eat in his own room. the noise the kids and the smells are too much for him. Also does he eat lunch at home for you when he isnt in daycare? or does he still not want afternoon food? if so then if he is on any kind of medication it could also be the peak time of the meds upsetting his tummy a bit then when he gets home he is so hungry because that is over with.. if that makes any sense to you.. tony eats a huge breakfast now .. has a bit of crackers at lunch and then eats a regular dinner. that way i know he isnt starving all day. but what works for one of our little ones wont work for all of them.

I hadn't really thought about the environment issue at lunch. It throws me off because once in a very great while, he will eat something at lunch at daycare, even if it is a little fruit. He usually eats a good lunch when I'm home with him, which is two to three days a week. He isn't on any meds; this is something I'm going to try to avoid. Our grandson would never eat lunch at daycare either. So I made sure he had a good breakfast, packed a container cheerios which he loves, also maybe crackers and/or applesauce and sent it with him. I learned not to worry about it and just made sure he had a good breakfast and dinner. If your son eats well at home then I don't think you should worry.

He's out of his enviroment, plain and simple I did a cours at a Autistic School called "my kid only eats french fries" sound familliar anyone? anyways when they have favorites it's more than likely because of texture of the food they're eating or the color. There is a pattern to it. When they tend not to eat in certain in places they're out of they're enviroment and off they're routine that they do at home. Always remember Autistic's are extremly stuck on routines and crave structure and if he is in a daycare for typically developing kids w/the exception of special needs here and there how highly structured can you accomodate the daycare to put your child at ease and give him a routine similar to home with his eating habits????

just wondering...my kids dont like loud noise places or sudden movements.....how about yours? if you answered yes to this...what daycare is quite and never moveing...ask them to place him in a quite place so he can eat..if not he just dosent want to....my son comes home every day after school and scarfs down....the cafateria is to nosiey...he cant stand it...
