Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
I understand your caution of going out into the world because autistic people will simply not allow negative entities in their lives. Negative people and deceiving people have never a chance with me. I simply ignore them and fulfill my own goals and dreams. My home is my comfort zone and with an extensive security system that I am planning on being updated it is certainly a safe zone. I have always felt at ease going out to get the items I need, not afraid of that but there are days when I simply do not want to or need to interact with any other humans other than online. You can communicate with others online just as well as with people on the outside but in a much safer way.
I was once like you, putting all the blame on me for other people's problems and I always wondered what I did wrong. You are not doing anything wrong, you are simply living the live of an autistic person, a person that has detection of other people's characteristics before they can even say A. I understand your anxiety and fear.
I am autistic but never went for diagnostics: one I do not have health insurance, two: I know a thing or two about doctors. Let me explain:
1. As a child I was treated for rheumatoid symptoms. I endured so many tests, crazy philosophies, and treatments for years that I now can only shake my head when thinking about it. Instead of getting injections now that weaken my body and immune system I have figured out how to train aggressively and how to self treat with homeopathic methods. And I have resolved that health issue.
2. I was told by a previous doctor about 10 years ago that I was actively in menopause. 10 years later I still have strong monthly cycles and I have since then left that doctor. All of their medical tests have proven wrong.
3. I had treatment by a nose and ear specialist for allergies and the resulting ear infections, one that put me in the hospital and out of commission for over 3 months. That specialist as well just wanted to pump me full of dangerous drugs. Since then I have used natural treatments that are so simple it is laughable and they work. Another health issue solved without a doctor.
4. I have gone to a psychiatrist after contracting PTSD due to being a stalking victim and that psychiatrist has actually questioned my accounts and questioned the validity of my reports due to the "young age" of the stalker that so viciously abused me.
Instead of paying that shrink's bill I have learned that many females are so sick of the unwanted attention that another female receives from stalkers that I would never ever seek advice with another female again.
5. I have had doctors trying to pump me full of medicines for high blood pressure that are due to anxiety from the stalking until I figured out that these medicines were very dangerous. Giving me heart palpations (since I stopped this medicine have not had one of them), gave me severe gastrointestinal issues as well. Needless to say I just adjusted my diet and added a couple of natural treatments that put these doctor's remedies to shame and I now control my own blood pressure. There are many doctors out there that are quacks.
I have considered going into a mental home, but thats a last resort and as for the refusal of medication, I only refuse it as I know its just the doctors fobbing me off as they are either too busy to actually listen, they are focusing on 1 aspect of my whole problem, depression is just one part of it, I know I am on the autistic spectrum, and the whole depression side of things is all down to frustration and not having control of myself, I know for a fact that if I buckled and gave in, taking these anti-depressants, they would infact only make me worse, the main source of my depression is all down to me being on the autistic spectrum, always being misunderstood, people just assuming something else, my earliest memory of depression was on my 7th birthday, I remember thinking that I wanted to die as all these people were surrounding me, being so noisy, popping balloons screaming..
If a doctor took the time to focus on the whole picture of my problems instead of trying to take the easy way out as most always do, as I know for a fact I am not the only one going through this and there are people not able to cope as well as me. So no I don't think I should try institutionalization just yet. thank you for your comment.
