Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

i think it is a matter of trial and test, if it suits to ur child then go ahead and if in 2 months u dont see good response or serious adverse effects, just stop it,
but from ur description i understand that ur daughter is a victim of serious mismanagement, that has escalated her behavioural issues,
i suggest that u should educate urself and try to teach ur daughter at home too apart from therapy which she is recieving, some good books are--
a work in progress (for ABA)
verbal behaviour approach by mary barbera lynch (for VBA)
out of sync child (for sensory issues and O.T.)
The autism book by dr robert sears for biomedical treatment,
believe me it is not that difficult to teach her, sometimes it is more difficult to find good therapist and arranging therapy...
He has been obsessing about his time in 5th grade since it ended. Now he is going to middle school and will not see any of these people, but I am worried about a new set of problems,
I have been trying to find a psychiatrist for him to maybe prescribe some meds for him, and Zoloft was the one I was thinking about.
I do know it is trial and error. We have tried a few different meds without any success. They scare me to no end. I have found that a "reward" system seems to work with my son. We have a chart that we work from, and it does help.
My son cannot let things go, and brings things back up from months or even years ago that upset him. He has bad thoughts and tells me he is sad for no reason. This scares me to no end because I am worried that certain meds might make him suicidal. It is very scary.
I think in your daughters case, it might help to try out the meds and see what happens. Therapy does not always help 100% I have found. My son, does not talk to anyone else about his very deep thoughts, except me and I am not a therapist, so I pass it on to the school social worker sometimes because I am not sure how to handle it.
I hope things get better for you and your daughter. Good luck - I feel for you and know what you are going through. It is very difficult.
