I had my son tested for food allergies by an allergist and food sensitivities by a naturopath. It has made a Huge difference in his behavior. Definitely not a cure for my son, but when we avoid the foods he reacts to, behaviorally, life is much better for him. Before then he would not be able to hold himself together. He would cry, tantrum, etc. His speech acquisition rate also improved.

i had my sons urine tested at the great plains lab at age 3, he showed problems with wheat and dairy, i changed his diet for 6 months and feel it got him out of his world, he did start talking and responding to his name. hes 11 now and doing great.

We have had our daughter on a gfcf (gluten free/dairy free) diet for the past month. We have noticed a huge difference in her language development. It used to take hours to get her to repeat a single word or sign and now we are able to get words and signs in a mere couple of tries. We have been totally amazed at her increase of new foods, she used to eat only about a dozen foods and now she eats more appropriately for a 3yr old.

However he has had tantrums from birth every time we would feed him. he is now almost 3, really under weight, hasn't grown in a year and has lost 3 lbs. from his weight @ his 2 year check up. We are new to this and I'm worried for my son's health. He gets so angry with me if I even offer him food. Then sometimes he will ask for something, but it's usually something I don't have... he wouldn't eat it before. I don't know what to do... He need to eat...

My son was sucha perfect eater when he was small i used to brag he'd eat anything. Then around 3 he started vetoing vege, and his choices began to become somewhat limited. Then I started looking after some kids who were very limited, picky eaters and the mom provided food. I didn't want to have to feed my kid something different all the time, so I'd match it. Now he's more limited. However, he's starting to make additional choices, things he sees kids at school have. And the other day he ate a green bean! 1st time in about 3 years. While his diet was limited, I didn't want to limit more, so I haven't tried and typical Autistic type diets (i.e. gluten free/ casin free etc.) His speech is coming along, his behaviour is coming along. Really with very little if any therapy. SO sometimes I wonder if our kids might really just be progressing on their own and not really because of interventions. My opinion might change after his IBI starts this summer. Sorry, probably too many details. Just wanted to give a well rounded diet history for consideration.
