yes, i think they know alot more then we think they do. maybe harrison thinks hes gonna get a shot whenever you strip him down to a diaper in a doctor office setting. and if you guys talk about reasons why you think he has autism, like the vaccination shots being some of the reason-maybe thats scared him even more from the shot. all kids hate shots anyways and i think he probally thought he was gonna get a shot after you stripped him down to a diaper, because before when he did get his shots they stripped him down to his diaper too. but anyways, yes i do think they know more then we think, and they have a really good memory too.

i don't think that he knows he has autism because of he vaccinations , but i do believe he figured out that when they pul up his pants he's going to get a shot , my grandson has resptory problems , when drs tried to give him a breathing trteatment , he freaked, now he doesn't even want to hear the word dr, he thinks it means a breathing treatment, he never minded the dr. before

Maybe not the vaccinations giving him autism, but maybe he figured out that the shots made him sick. The autism came later.

I will add that my son's original Ped had zero patience. He was in, motor-mouth zip zip zip, then out. My son hated this Doc, was terrified, at this point too they are about the same size, my son at age 7, (lol) he roughed up the Doc on occassion too, not wanting another Vac. I stopped taking my son to that Doc because he feared ALL DOcs. Now he's had some time away from that Doc, and he's been seen by others and he's actually really good. We found another Ped with a better manner, quiet, gentle etc.

I also believe as you do about the Vac's, but that's my opinion from my own experience.
Maybe take a break from Doc's for a while, or change the one you've got altogether... worked for us.

My son is the same way. After his shots he hated the doctors and developed like a phobia of the white paper and being on that table. He wont to this day sit on the table. He remembers those dang shots and doesnt like the doctors coming near him. Its jsut rediculous how they can jab a baby that young so many times and these poor babies cant even talk yet. I wish my son could of gotten his shots at like age four or something.

Truthfully, I think your son is like most children....he just hates shots. There is no way he could grasp the concept of immunizations being a causal factor of his autism.

A friend of mine was actually able to recover her son under the superivision of a DAN Doctor, and after chelation and all that. Anyway, just recently, she was sitting down talking to him a couple of months ago and she asked him if he remembered when he couldn't talk, and he told her, "Yes." She then asked him what he remembered at that time and he told her, basically, that he understood what everyone was saying to him but his body would not allow him to respond or do what they were asking him to do. So, I do believe that our kids are more aware of what's going on even though they may not be looking at us or able to talk to us. And then there's always seems to be some truth about the saying, "The body remembers."

Eddie has hated any doctor touching him since he is about 1 years old. The only one that can touch him is the one that gives him the vaccinations. Well i think the fact that he gets stripped down to the diapper is what probably causes him to freak out. My other son also hated the doctor and he is not Autistic he just had a ruff begening with alot of doctors and surgery and yes they do remember Doctor or people that hurt them. The trick my doctor uses is let them get dressed so when they give the needle they can live right away she just leaves the area that is getting the vaccination showing. Well all kids are extemily smart and now more them we think.

I remember when I was a very young child, I had to go to the clinic to get some shots (I'd had some before so I knew what was in store) and I screamed very loudly and ran round the clinic as the nurse tried to get me for the injections, and I was told off for being a very naughty disruptive child. I don't know what logic was going through my mind at the time, but I remember being truly terrified and running away from her screaming in terror.

I have no idea whether shots caused my Aspergers. I am inclined to think it is hereditary, as family members showed similar traits. But perhaps there is something in an autistically-inclined brain that reacts badly to shots - maybe in the same way that I react badly to fluorescent lights. Maybe the brain goes into shut-down mode because there is far too much going into the body, and the brain can't cope. I don't know. I know when I was running round the clinic screaming, there were no logical thoughts going through my head, but that I associated the shots with something terrible and terrifying.
