Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Anyone have issues with side effects? I started taking this about 3 weeks before my ablation, felt really tired but just attributed to nerves etc. I was on Pradaxa previously and did not feel like this. I seem to be getting worse as time goes on, the fatigue/weakness is really bad, feeling depressed or something, really a struggle to do much of anything. I am doing good so far with the ablation as far as the abi/flutter goes but just really feel like I have been run over You would think I would be ecstatic with no more afib!. Also sometimes my urine looks like it has a black tint to it and smells weird, not strong like you are dehydrated just real mediciney or something. Any thoughts?
I've been on Xarelto for 17 months with no problems at all!

See your doctor about that. I doubt that Xarelto would affect you differently than Pradaxa would have... but everyone reacts differently.
Whatever is causing it, see your doctor.

I dont take Xarelto so I cant relate any direct personal experiences. I do, however, have a friend who was prescribed that to prevent a DVT after an operation; she didnt fare well at all. She had extreme fatigue, intestinal problems but the biggest problem was getting the doctors to believe that that was the problem. In the end they did take her off it and she got heparin to self-inject for the remainder of the time. I dont want to scare you with this story (my friends doing fine, no lingering effects, no blood clots) I just want to say that everyone is different and it could very well be the xarelto that is causing your problems.
