Yeah, those rooms are cold...

Before my ablation, All I had to do was say I was cold, and someone would run to get a heated blanket.
For the procedure I wore a huge hospital gown with several snap openings.
During the 6 hour recovery felt warm and didn't want extra blankets.

I was "out" most of the time. When I first went into the procedure room (it looks like a lab, or something futuristic) the nurses and the anethesiologist (sp) were there. The johnny had snaps side seams, they covered me with a sheet and pulled it off in 3 pieces. We were all chatting and the nurses were getting ready to "paint" everything and that was the last thing I remember until I woke up in bed. They did put a warm blanket on me when I first went in until they were ready (only about 5 - 10 minutes).

If you have any concerns, let them you when you are talking with me. I have very sensitive skin (adhesives and antiseptics will irritate it) and the nurses took very good care of me. Just relax and put yourself in their hands. Take care.

No I don't recall being cold. Also I was quickly out-of-it for 8 hrs and was OK when I awoke. Probably it depends also on anesthesia and how "awake" you are or are not.

Ahhh, blankets are an option then. Good!!
Joan, I have become allergic to the adhesive on the glue for all those heart pads. Last time they took them off me, the aide's eyes got really big, but she didn't say anything. When I looked in the mirror, all the places the stickers were on were beet red and it itched like crazy!! I put steroid ointment on and in a week they were gone. But for the ablation, they use a TON of stickers, right? i'll look like I have sunburn!!

I will mention about the temperature to see if I can get some warm blankets.
Are you lying on the steel cold table with only a sheet between you and the table???

It's not a steel table and it's not cold. They put heated blankets on so I wasn't cold. Plus I was out shortly after I went into the room so I have no memory of being cold during the procedure.

There are a lot of stickers and at least for me many of them were on for quite some time. They couldn't remove the ones on my back until after I could move so they were on me for about 16 hours all told. You might want to let them know ahead of time about your allergy to the adhesive. Maybe there is something they can do to reduce problems with that.

I have so many things to tell them pre-op but the allergy is one of them. I bet my mind goes blank when it comes time...

Yes the room is cold, like 62 degrees F.

For me, they had a heated blanket. The blanket has hot air flowing through it as you lay on it. with a sheet on top.

As we all know, when you are in that condition, '"here ain't much left to worry about."

It was cold and I remember feeling cold at first when they put all those patches on your back and front. The nurses were so nice and got me a warm blanket after I got on the table. I will be thinking of you, Heart2222 and looking forward to updates from you.

I was out cold, but I know that when they wheeled me in there it was beyond cold. I hate to think of how naked I was during the procedure, because I woke up in recovery wrapped in blankets, but no gown underneath. I didn't work as an OR nurse, but a lot of them told me that doctors simply don't care and they remove the gowns because they hinder them....so plan on giving everyone a free show:)
