Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Hi All! Just a quick update....Dr. switched at my request from Warfarin to Eliquis.....My INR was only in therapeutic range a few time since Feb. on Warfarin....going to Clinic twice a week....Dr. thinks my neuropathy is not from meds but due to old stroke....scheduled for cardioversion middle of May. Im confused on whats the best thing to do....hoping I dont have allergic reaction to this med. Thanks in advance for any input. I appreciate you guys and the support. TC Vinny
I also switched to Eliquis a couple of weeks ago. I hated all the testing and the frequency. I was to hsve a cardioversion several weeks back. I went in the hospital for out patient procedure -they prepped me, did blood work and took me to the procedure room and my Dr. got a call from the lab that my INR was only 1.5. He had them repeat it as three days previously it was 2.7. Bottom line - no cardioversion. I decided then that this sucked, so I asked him to switch. Now I don't have to worry about what I eat. I love vegetables and salads. I haven't had problem with it. I doubt you would be allergic to it. I sm still in a-fib and take carvedilol and lisinopril. When I see my cardiologist he will decide whether or not to schedule another cardioversion. He said since I seem to tolerating it pretty good, he would probably leave me in Fib. Good luck with your cardioversion. Are you in a-fib? Keep us updated and am sure you will be fine on Eliquis. Lots of people on this site take it.
