Warfarin and Metoprolol Withdrawal Symptoms

Hey,

As mentioned recently, my EP directed me to change from warfarin to the regular 325 mg aspirin. Two weeks later I dropped the metoprolol dose from 25 mg / day to 12.5 mg /day. Yes I know that isn't much....

Anyway, I felt very strange when I stopped the warfarin. Not exactly sure how to describe it, but felt a little 'buzzed'. This lasted more than a month after stopping the warfarin, and continued 2 - 3 weeks when I stopped the metoprolol.

Has anyone who has stopped either warfarin or metoprolol had withdrawal symptoms?

I was on Metoprolol for 9 months. After an ablation in May of this year, I weaned off the beta blocker and Flecainide over a period of a couple of weeks. Took my last dose about 2 weeks ago and I'd be lying if I said i felt normal the first few days. It took a while to get used to the new normal when I first went on the meds. Luckily, after several days I began to feel better. I have actually felt pretty close to normal (pre-afib) for almost a week.

But yes, I would definitely say there was some withdrawal after coming off the beta blocker.

Take it easy and hopefully you will begin feeling better as the medication leaves your system. Best of luck and I hope you feel better soon!!

I did not have a problem with the warfarin, but did have a problem trying to get off metoprolol. No matter how slowly I weened myself from it, after about the 3rd day my HR was faster - anywhere from 90 - 120 - too fast for me to be comfortable. I am back on metoprolol but still hope to come of it some time. Right now it's keeping me "normal".
