If you are ok after having the tooth removed already, I wouldn't take it (particularly if it says "as needed" on the container). Call your doctor. I assume your oral surgeon knows you have afib and the drugs you take? Disd you talk to your EP also? I read the drug is not good if you have sleep apnea. One last thing... if you DO take it and start hearing Michael Jackson music with the radio off, stop taking it immediately. (kidding)

First of all Im happy you didnt need the Vicodin but curious as to why you wouldnt take it ? Its tylenol and hydrocodone , as a surgical nurse we use this type of pain med and lots of others with our pts who have atrial fib all the time and I certainly wouldnt go through surgery without pain medicine ...... I went through lots of surgery for my bc just a few years ago and had to take all kinds of different meds including pain meds and none of them affected my a fib or my flecainide....just sayin, that was my experience

Maybe I was being careful, but Vicodin can be codeine based or thebaine based. Drugs.com said this:

"Opiate agonists (codeine is an opiate antagonist) have cholinergic activity. I also read Thebaine affects catecholamine levels and adrenergic stimulation from catecholamines can cause AF and maintain it. I really don't have any science or practical experience with Thebaine, but since people have so many triggers, I guess I personally am a little wary with anything as strong as diet coke. BTW, I DIDN'T read this stuff on afibbers.org.

Almost forgot... Ray has posted in the past he has sleep apnea... so that was a concern. I think he also said he has Type II Diabetes... I don't know what if any drug interactions exist there. Maybe none. I'm not a nurse or doctor. As long as your doctors (plural) are ok with the combinations of drugs, who am I to say differently.

Ray, at least you know what questions to ask your doctors in the future.

So maybe it's okay to use these, but if you have little or no pain, why take anything?

Ray...great if you didn't need to take it. I agree with my friend SameDay...shouldn't have been a problem unless you are allergic to it. It is possible it could have messed with your INR though. Did you take anything for pain? Tylenol or anything?
