Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I had ablation #2 in June. I had p waves for a couple of days and then the atach came back with a vengeance. My doctor put me on an event monitor. I haven't had a full day of NSR. Day I have been having atach, afib, pac, pvc, atrial flutter and occassional svt. My doctor said he has ablated everything he could and is a bit perplexed as to why I am having all of this.To top it all off I had congestive heart failure last week. My BNP level was 1,824ml and normal people is 100ml. I go back to see him in week. Then it will be decided if I need another surgery or if he's going to send mespecialist in Oklahoma. Is anyone else's heart this crazy?

Yikes! That is a crazy heart!
Can you feel all these arrythmias?
Hope the CHF has improved. Hang in there. Maybe consider a 2nd opinion??

Sorry to hear about your "crazy" heart.
You had 2 ablations right after the other, the second one just in June. Your heart is still healing.
I agree with Marikay go for a second opinion. You are in Orlando, the Cleveland Clinic in Westin is not too far, about a 2 1/2 hour drive on I 95

Im so sorry you are having so much trouble, especially concerning the CHF. I agree with Sanibel. A second opinion from the Cleveland Clinic in Westin might be worth considering. My last 30 event monitor went alot like yours...each day, I had episodes of all the above, except I never had CHF. I also have had two ablations. I take a beta blocker and warfarin. Since your ablation, are you taking any rate or rhythm meds? I know how disappointed you must be..after going through 2 ablations. However, the 2nd ablation is still very new and hasnt completely healed. My hope is that things settle down for you after a while when everything has had a chance to heal. After my ablation, everything got much worse. I had more AFIB, ATACH, PVCS and PVCS in the month after the ablation than I did the entire year prior to the ablation. Because I'm so symptomatic and feel every single beat, skip, thud etc. at 200 times a minute, I was pretty unhappy. It has taken 5 months for everything to calm down. If I have to do this again, even though my doctor is supposed to be one of the best, I will definitely get a second opinion and maybe a third. Can you feel everything?

Even though I had CHF my heart muscle is still strong. My EF is 55%. It went up 10% from when I had to have cardioversion back in February. Ithink you all are right about waiting the full 3 to 4 months to completely heal. God could perform a miracle! IIt's only been 40 days since I had 2nd ablation. I'll look into the Clevland Clinic. Thanks for suggedtion. I do at times feel all of them. It's definitely affectting my day to day life. 4 days after surgery they put me on rythmol. I was on that for a month. Based on the event monitor I was still have multiple arrtyhmias. Now I am on multaq and they have increased my metaprolol. I hope this all straigten up soon. Very draining mentally and physically. Now I have to be very careful with salt intake and fluid intake. I have weigh myself everyday and any 2 or more pound over night weight gain I have to report it.

I think Marks experience has a lesson in patience. 40 days is really a short time. Give it more time and try to follow your diet and get plenty of rest. It is very important to keep an eye on your weight. If your CHF acts up you start holding onto fluid. It is amazing how quickly you can gain weight. Weighing every day will help you catch that quickly.
I am sure your heart is still healing and things will improve. Take care

I'm happy to say that at about the 2 month mark since my ablation things have calmed down a lot. Maybe it's the increased metaprolol and multaq! Either way I'm better. I'm on a water pill and potassium for CHF. I start back at the gym Monday!

That's great news, you've sure had a difficult time to say the least. The healing time takes some patience for sure. It sounds like your medication is right on track, that's very encouraging, especially since you're getting back to exercising. Take it slow, plenty more healing to do.

Wow, you have gone thru so much!! So sorry to hear all that. Hopefully it's on the mend now and will settle down.

I had my ablation down at the Cleveland Clinic in OH and was pleased with them.

Hopefully your second opinion will shed some light on your whole ordeal.
