Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Hi All,
I am going thru the process of getting travel insurance for the USA, including of course, medical insurance while I am away.
Last October I went into AFib so (on advice of my SP) went to the hospital to get a trace put on it so he could see what is happening. It reverted to NSR on it's own after a few hours.
This is the sticking Q in all the surveys as it was an unplanned visit to the hospital. Had I gone to my Dr instead, no problem and I'd have insurance.
At the moment I am going thru my Bank, Westpac who may insure me (not definate yet) but htey need to see my discharge notes and want to see my latest report from my SP, who I am due to see in May.
Anyone have experience with getting Travel Health insurance, esp to the USA?
I'm feeling bewildered, as if I suddenly have a much higher chance of an issue and of course feel more tense,

You may want to check with them. Be wary of preexisting condition clauses. You may have to get insurance many months ahead of the planned trip to beat this clause. Insurance companies will always find a preexisting condition to deny your claim unless you have specifically arranged to beat this clause.
We love insurance companies here on this forum, can't you tell.
