Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Yesterday was pretty bad. The day before was even worse. But today I'm in NSR, and it feels great. I thank a higher power for every day on this earth, but on days like today, I appreciate being alive even more. On days like today, nothing can squash my optimism. I feel like I could conquer the world. I know it won't last long, so I'm going to relish it while I can. Just had to share that.

Will send out a prayer for your continued NSR. You are way too young to have this condition...I haven't noticed...have you posted about your research into ablation? At your age, you could recover VERY quickly. Of course, it is a HUGE decision, not make lightly.

Ablation for me is a last resort (as it is for most people I suspect). I was on beta blockers, those stopped working. So now I'm trying calcium channel blockers, without much luck so far (it's only been 3 weeks though). Thyroid panel came back normal. Just went to the family dr. yesterday and had blood drawn for lipid panel (haven't done that in a few years) and serum electrolyte. I've read a lot about magnesium and how it's helped a lot of people, so I'm actually hoping for something there. Doing a sleep study soon, as I'm pretty sure I've got some kind of apnea - I often wake up with headaches and I know I snore like a wildebeest. Hopefully I'm going through all the right steps.

Yes, get into sleep study. Sleep Apnea once diagnosed and managed can make a huge difference to afib. I wonder how many Wildebeests have afib!!!!!
