I did not know that. Thank you. I had wondered if safe to take cold pills. I have them but have not taken any. I need to clean out a bunch of things, I knew I could take nothing thathad aspirin in it. On warfarin.

Decongestants are a stimulant that can be a trigger. If you just take an antihistamine it should be ok. Also beware of multi-symptom cough syrups..they probably contain a decongestant. Avoid any cough syrup if you take coumadin, ingredients can increase INR.

I've taken Coricidin HBP for colds and head and chest congestion with no adverse impact (on afib events while on it). It might be worth checking out. Mucinex seems to be okay (for me), also. Good luck - hope all is well by now.

Docs told me that Afrin nose spray was a stimulant too.

Here's why I feel so dumb: punks make meth out of sudafed and related otc drugs. You'd think that this would be a tip-off! However, I've taken these drugs at times for my whole life--all before afib. They seemed safe and normal.

Yes, Afrin and similar nasal sprays are decongestants. Time to return to those good old home remedies I guess. My moms favorite was Vicks Vaporub on the chest all wrapped up with an old flannel rag!

hmmm I did not know any of this - I take sudafed once in a while if my nasal drip is really bad and cough med when I feel asthma coming on. havnt had any side affects but didnt know about cough meds and warfarin. thanks for the info.

I read on American Heart Assn piece on Afib and they say antishisatmine should be okay. I have a bottle some where.

Druggist did not have benedryl and had to get me some. Told me it would work. I had 3 hornet bites and really swelled. I asked about the date they put on and he said not to pay any attention to it. I would suppose in time it could get too old.

I had two gnat bite on face last month and swelled and sick from it and chest hurt. I will get some. To be sure I have it.

I have no cough syrups. I have a strong cough drop but I rare use and if do not a whole one. No nasal sprays.

Vicks vapor rub is different now then they use to be. They took something out. But still good. Hot chicken soup even the cheap canned I get sure helped me one night and got me opened up.

I don't do any cold medience anymore. Not worth a trip to hospital. I just suffer through it. Benedryl causes heart palpitations in me. They say that isn't normal so I say I have an allergy to it. I use mucinex and have no problem.
