I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my posts over the last couple of days. It really helped me. As I mentioned earlier, I hadn't had an AFib episode for 3.5 years until a couple days ago and today, my cardio confirmed that I am now back in NSR! Praise God! 400 mg of Multaq twice a day converted me within a couple of days so I am so thankful for that medicine. The only thing is, that I am by nature an extremely anxious person. I find myself really struggling mentally and emotionally when an AFib episode hits. People who post on this support group mention deep breathing to help calm you down, but the thing that really bothers me is the not knowing when or if I will convert, fears of having to pay for cardioversion in the hospital, fear of taking new anticoagulant drugs and anti arythmic drugs and the cost for these. I guess I am asking if anyone has found any book or web site that has helped them if they are a worry wart like me. I realize that it's my thinking that needs to change when I'm in a stressful situation like AFib. I've tried praying, reading scripture, laying down and taking alprazolam. I guess maybe I need to go back to my therapist and just talk about this. Journaling and talking about my stress helps when I am in it, just admitting the hopeless feelings that I have also helps. The thing is that this last episode seemed like it could have been so much less stressful for me if I had some practical tool to use while I am in the middle of it. I guess it's what they call "stinking thinking". I just thought I would ask if anyone was like me and if they found tools to change how you think. I tend to keep things bottled up when I get angry and I am trying to remedy that by just expressing myself when I get angry but it is so difficult as I've stuffed things like anger my whole life and I want to stop so I can be healthier!
