I've taken Lovastatin 20mg and Synthryoid 75mcg for 10+ years. My blood test results have remained consistent, so in my case, I would say a statin makes no difference.

I also have take Metoprolol 25mg for PIP for 27 mos. Now, Rhythmol 300 for PIP and no increase in effects for me.

I know statins affect some folks negatively, but doesn't seem to make any difference for me ( except to lower my cholesterol)

Thanks for the feed back, went on statins for awhile back in July and after a couple of weeks went to afib, high heart rate of 180 etc, had to go to ER. Quit taking and was okay until the last few weeks when I had to go back on them, been having issues on and off, this past week or so been feeling like I am on speed or something, lots of heart palpitations and boom woke up with it this morning again. I knew it was coming. I had this speed feel when they gave me a second thyroid med, had to get of caused the palpitations Been several months off of that one, only took a few days to make things crazy, just had my blood work done recently and it was okay except for the cholesterol so had to go back on them, since that is the only thing that has changed wondered if there was a connection. Still have the speed feeling even in the afib when I was on the other thyroid med. Sure lets you get your chores done! Maybe the cartia or tikosyn........ is being affected?

I've taken simvastatin and levothyroxine for over 10 years without any problem. I took them before and after I had afib and it made no difference except low cholesterol and thyroid in correct range.

I was on a statin for years before the A Fib started. After my ablation had to take Multaq for 4 months. I started having miserable leg cramps so my primary care doctor decided to have me take Crestor instead of simvastatin and the leg cramps ceased.
And since Crestor is a more effective statin for me, it was a "win-win" solution.

I don't take a statin. But when I started taking thyroid meds they gave me palpations. We tried all different kinds of combinations and times. I finally had to stop them. When I do my labs the first of Dec my Doc will talk about what we should do.
