I have achy legs if I dont where my support hose - for vaircose veins. Not sure if Flec made them worse of if my leg aches jsut came with age. With regard to your blood pressure ahve you checked it when you are lightheaded?

I feel for you. I had the same issues. You might find that some of the drugs they are going to prescribe you are worse than afib at times. Although the side effects of flec do lessen usually after a couple months but not enough for me to stay on it. Some people have no issues with flec at all and have been taking it for years.

Hi Shanny and welcome to the group. I have used flecainide for about 2 years now and have had excellent results with it. No major side effects that I can say for sure are caused by the flec. I have lots of body aches and pains but most of those are caused by my age and by what I did for a living before retirement or at least that's what I think at the moment. NSR to all Rick

I am on flecainide and just increased the dose and felt like my vision was off for a short period of time then all was fine. I have not experieced any lightheadedness or achy legs. Good luck

I have been on Flecainide for 4+ years , in the very very beginning I had a bit of dizziness and altered vision but it really didnt last long and beyond that it is obviously the med for me cause I have no other effects and it works. I take 50mg twice daily and in the event of an episode or pre episode I can use up to 3 more tabs.
The early days are so difficult, finding what works and what doesnt and what side effects are tolerable and which ones arent.....wishing you NSR and the right med with no side effects ASAP

thank you for your replies, yes it is early days with the flecanide, when im feeling lightheaded my heart rate is usually only about 60..so it may settle down...i probably have varicose veins so that may be why my legs are aching...had a good nights sleep last night..first time since i had the big AF episode...its amazing how much better you can feel after a sleep...hugs to everyone and hope we all stay well.

I have taken flecainide for almost 2 years without any side effects. I have been about 99% a fib free since starting it. Before I was having 2-3 episodes a week lasting from 2-6 hours and then I would self convert.
If flecainide isnt right for you there are other options. Good luck.

I agree completely with MariKay. I left out the good news about Flecainide. There are several antiarrythmatics available. I was only 90% afib free wtih Sotalol. So my EP switched me to Flec. I have been 99% afib free for over 5 years.

Shanny, I just had my first bout with Atrial Fibrillation on Jan 21, 2013.. I was just in to see my doctor about what I thought was bronchitis and I could not catch my breath at night when I tried to sleep ...My doctor ran an EKG, then came back into the room saying.. I don't want to scare you but I am sending you to the ER. (My EKG was showing Atrial Fib) I was terrified. I went to the ER and was there for 4 hours, put on IV's Oxygen, etc. and diagnosed Pneumonia and Atrial Fib. 2 weeks went by, and I started getting that 'out of breath' feeling when I tried to sleep (Feb 27, 2013)... I did a BP and heart rate reading and it was off the charts ... so I ended up in the ER again and was held there for overnight observation. Diagnosis: Atrial Fibrillation... given a magnitude of drugs to take: Metoprolol, Lasix, K-Tabs, Lisinopril, and Warfarin (Coumadin). I went back to the doctor (wants me back in one month) and Cardiologis (wants me back in a year) yet, I feel horrible, not to mention depressed. So hang in there Shanny, You will do fine !!!
