I was curious about the implants..but the caps on my bottom teeth have lasted for 30 years...if the top ones do the same, that should take me on home. I have heard they have made great strides with the process. I remember when it took a full 6 months from start to finish. I hear that now it is a MUCH shorter process.

Bill, It is the molars and the teeth right next to them that have gotten decay under the crowns...there is also bone loss which makes them more vulnerable. Others back there had so much work done on them, they broke. All my other crowns are doing good.....30+yrs. I did not replace the molars, but the teeth next to them, I did. I tried not to, but, eating many foods was difficult.

Brush really well back there around the gum line~

The timing varies. If you need a bone graft the process is longer. I did for my last one. It took 3.5 mos.

I will be 72 this week. Ageing is Not easy....there are a lot of things that I have to deal with that have changed me. But, I love life so much, I am OK with whatever each day brings. I may grumble a bit at the time, but.....I do Love life and am Very Grateful for Today!!!!

I am facing 2 crowns but he said he will not do more than
one at a time.
I dread the carbocaine... makes my heart nuts but the
price tag makes me go nuttier. :)

Hope u feel better! I need to go to the Dentist, too. I need a cleaning really bad and God knows what else I build up plaque fast and now yellow. Scared to go with a-fib and Warfarin. Getting old is definitely no fun. But I do thank God for my blessings. Take care!

I feel for ya Bill. Take care and hope your mouth feels better soon. I always dread the dentist. Even though I havent had any actual tooth issues for many many years, even just getting dental cleaning amps up my anxiety. I do not like that squeally, water pic type of scraping thing they use to remove the plaque near the gum line. I practically tear the arms of the dentist chair off while they are using that thing! I have a dental appointment on 7/24. Cant wait! NOT! :)

Dentist ... did you say DENTIST>>>> as his tongue plays with the stiches where his tooth used to be and where his $7,000.00 replacement will be someday.

You are correct about the losing weight! I ate poached eggs before going to the dentist, then only the soup/sandwich thing for dinner, and wasn't hungry at all (I am guessing due to the stress). Weighed myself this morning...down 3 pounds! Hmmm....I only need to be unable to eat for 6 more days to reach my goal weight! Nope, this is NOT the way I want to lose weight! One of my teeth is still terribly sensitive. It is the one near where they did the injection, so I am hoping that is reason, and it will be ok soon.
Went to bed at 830 last night, so exhausted, again I guess from the stress of it all.

$7,000! Yahoo! You might make the 10% cut for a tax deduction this year! I was never smart enough to get dental insurance, so mine will be out of pocket as well..don't have the bill yet, but am sure it will be a few schekels. Did I spell that correctly?
