Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Hi...well being diagnosed. 9.30.2014. With. Afib during wellness exam...
I was put on coumadin and cardiz em. .....doc. wants to get me a cardioversion. I believe its called......I have never felt anything going on..
Echo. Came back and doc said lower vents look good. And upper aorta dont look to bad..I asked when my heart goes into af. And how long, they couldnt say......long and short of it. Got records. And want second opinion
I use all the natropath things I can.....applecider vinegar. ..omega3...cinnamon. .garlic..ect......anyhow should my second opinion come from a natropath md. Which I found or another. Med doc???
Living in minnesota. I have some choices. Mayo. Even. Just need answers

Go to an electrophysiologist for second opinion. Afib is easy to diagnose (as long as they catch it on an EKG).

I second Petey's advice about seeing a good EP! Eating well and using good supplements will help.

I have a PCP, Cardio Dr, and EP.

My Cardio Dr. and PCP are my Best resource.

My EP was interested in Ablation and not much help. He closed his local office temporarily. Too busy doing ablations to travel up here now. We have one other EP in town, I will try him soon.

I would be in sorry shape if I had listened to only one Dr. for my past 3 afib years!!!!

ALWAYS good to get a second, third, or fourth opinion if something doesn't smell right. I recently moved and saw a new cardiologist for the first time. This guy had zero information on me, other than what I told him during my consult. He was ready to prep me for ablation that day! Later found out he is a cardiac surgeon. Then it made sense why the first (and only) thing he wanted to do was cut me open.

I'd done a significant amount of reading at that point, so I knew that there were a few ways to treat arrhythmias. This guy seemed convinced that surgery was the only option, for everyone, all the time. Needless to say I fishtailed out of the parking lot and won't be back to see him.

I may wind up going the ablation route, but not before I've exhausted other options.

Thanks again for information. Pacey..duder..daisey..yoga..so. cardi doc. Or ep. ? Mayo clinic here in minnesota. Might be a shot....just sad when. My own doc cant tell me if im in afib or not. Since I dont feel anything. Abnormal. I must be a systematic or whatever. But thanks for input. All of you. Glad I threw cigs though feel 100 percent

Find an EP, I have a friend in AZ that goes to the Mayo clinic but she is really struggling. I am fortunate that my cardio also has a good EP in his group. Petey knows of a site where you can look them up, hopefully he will post for you. So sorry you had to join us here. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi went for 2nd opinion. Thought was. Natropath md. Lol. Just reg doc. Well. He concurred with 1st doc. On my af...he wants to up coumadin. And get. It to. 2 to 3 level then would set up with ep. To get. Cardioversion. Sigh. I guess
