Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

My name is Vien Cheung and I'm a clinical psychology graduate student at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I'm conducting a dissertation examining how atrial fibrillation impacts how people think and feel. Currently, I'm recruiting subjects using Kardia devices and AppleWatch series 4+ to track arrhythmias. Research that increases our understanding the disease helps healthcare providers improve diagnosis and treatment.
If you decide to participate in this study, you will complete an onilne survey that lasts about 30-45 minutes. The survey asks about your health, including your AFib, as well as your thoughts and feelings about it.
