My husband had his post ablation follow up with EP today. He has recently had a few afib episodes - not overly long - but obviously due to stress, as last weekend, I was in the hospital with a small bowel obstruction (most likely created by my appendix surgery this past January, five days before my husband's ablation.) Needless to say, these first months of 2015 have been stressful for both of us.Post ablation, my husband had 6 days of afib episodes, then was afib free for just over a month, which was wonderful. However, the EP believes that, since my husband has experienced a few episodes recently, there may still be some tweaking to do (re: second ablation.) We were given information about a double blind study in Phase 2 which is for a new antiarrithymia drug with less stress and side effects on the body. We may consider being screened for this, although my husband may not have the required afib percentages to participate. If nothing else, the screening gives us more information on his afib or lack of for a couple of weeks.
It is a work in progress, and although we still are hopeful that the afib disappears forever, we continue to live our lives and deal with whatever comes. A bit disappointing, but we will stay positive!
