I'm afraid I have no experience post ablation, I just wanted to extend my congratulations on getting it done and I do understand that flutters, etc. are to be expected for the first 3 months. That said, you'd think you could at least get home and get a night's rest before the BS started. Sorry, makes me mad. My best wishes for your speedy recovery and more NSR times ahead.

tw- yes, it is a bummer. I know exactly what you are going through (Im in week 3 after ablation nr. 2) but it doesnt mean that the ablation was a failure. I find flutter harder to handle than a-fib; I know of no apps for relaxation my answer was to call my EP to see what he wanted me to do (how long to wait, what I could do to slow it down etc.).

Ive read that the first 2 4 weeks after an ablation your heart is very inflamed and scars are being formed. So, naturally during that time ANYTHING can happen. After the initial 4 weeks it can take up to 2 months more for the scars to form completely so during this time breakthroughs in the form of a-fib or aflutter can happen but usually further apart.

But, seeing that this is your second ablation I guess you know all that. Sometimes its good to hear it again because it is difficult to believe when you are in the middle of an episode.

I would also like to say there are other people on this site who had it rough after their second ablation and it still turned out good.

I hope and trust that your aflutter has subsided and you were eventually able to fall asleep and woke up in NSR.

Rest, Relax and Renew

Thanks everyone for your support. The flutters were awful and I tried orange juice at 4:30am reading some things on the internet and I was in NSR before I finished my glass - amazing! Yogacat I never thought about YouTube I will check it out.

Sometimes a glass of low sodium V8 works for me. I keep it on hand.

I feel your anxiety, I wish I had known of this site and been made more aware of what may happen post ablation. I have had 2 ablations, both times my first night home were tough, long periods of 180 to 200 beats per minute, jumping in my chest, calls to the er 200 miles away. I have been in the most part NSR for a year and a half, one 15 minute session that rocked me but some metoprolol got me back in rhythm, I always carry some with me, the boat, the truck just in case. I try very hard to stay relaxed but it is hard to do, good luck
