Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Since I have been talking about showing you all some shots from my upcoming Venice trip, I had to figure out how I was going to do that. So this afternoon, I played around with FICKR, and think I've got the hang of it. I found and old picture of me in Venice from 1983, then I kind of got carried away ... so go to the following site and go to the ALBUMS area and look around. Let me know if you have trouble with this, when I return I'll fill out the Venice section. I have some prints of me mountain climbing and rafting on the Colorado river, that I need to get digitized.

This morning I worked on organizing the things I need for work (tools, meters, software, laptop, etc. ). One of my old colleagues called me last week and wants my help revamping a new stock exchange (for those who don't know the are about a dozen public exchanges, and about 50 dark pools) and design and build out a new larger data center for them. If this pans out, it will be part time work for me for several months. I've built several financial data centers over the years, so this would be a piece of cake for me.
Gee, now I feel better, fight back, its the only way! Don't let the AFIB take over!

I don't care how many centers there are...just give me the name of ONE stock that will finance my retirement! I STILL cry over not investing in McDonalds when it crashed about 10 years ago and was selling for $11. Went to $100, split, and went back to $100 again. With dividend reinvestment, 1,000 shares 10 years ago would have done it. So I need another shot like that. Oh yeah, I DID pull the trigger on GM..cuz I just KNEW the government wouldn't let GM go under! Should have put that money into lottery tickets!

We have a saying in the market. Bulls and bear do ok, the pigs get slaughtered. Don't think you will get rich in the market. Buy stable large companies that pay good dividends or index finds. If you return better than 8% per year, count yourself lucky. BTW, I have nothing to do with the traders, I wouldn't want to be around them (bad karma), I'm more of a worker bee. I am strictly involved with building the infrastructure that lets them make (or lose) money. Its like a casino (I've built the IT infrastructure for one of them also).
Now all I need to do is stay in NSR. It wasn't the AFIB episode the other day that was so bad, it was the effects of the dehydration that came with all the peeing.
The photos are "breathtaking". The Architecture is amazing! And, the pictures of you are outstanding. Looks like paradise, So you and Sharon go have a great time and LEAVE THE AFIB BEHIND. Relax my friend, my prayers will be with you.Love the Kitty pictures too:)

Your pictures look great. Now, I am looking forward to see your new ones from your trip now. I am sure that you will stay in NSR for your vacation and you and Sharon will have fun in this trip.
The new job sounds good too. It will be something to take your mind off any possible afib. Hopefully your episodes in August were just a part of healing after your ablation.
I like your advice about the market but I would add one more thing to it. That is, getting into a good small cap fund can also help the retirement at this time. Yes, they are back once again! Remember 1990s? :-)
