Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I am just going to bed and thought of all the support I have with this site and that I should tap into it. I am getting a pacemaker tomorrow and I am a bit stressed. I was to get it last week but was at the end of a respiratory infection. My heartbeat is very slow at rest and with any activity. October 12th of this year I had an ablation for afib. One extreme to the other. What's up with that?
Sometimes a person just gets sick of being sick. I pray this gives me some energy and some of my activities back.
Thanks for listening as I know you all understand in this community. I look forward to posting good news once I find out how it is working for me.

Hi bija, You have gone through a lot recently! I believe you are going to be very pleased with the new quality of life once you have it inserted and adjust to it.

Hello Biya: I think you are going to be very happy with how much better you will feel after you get your pacemaker. We have a family friend that needed one and he felt so much better after getting it. More energy and not tired all the time. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Several of my friends have pacemakers. In every case they felt it really helped them-----stopped the fainting spells, more energy, etc.

two of my neighbors....one next door and the other one door down have had history of a fib and have had pacemakers put in within the last month, both very successful and both feeling good as can be....one still made a part of his hunting season and takes longer walks than before and the other just drove to Florida and has already started golfing again....in both cases from being dizzy and lethargic and rather depressed about day to day life.....both very happy and very healthy again. So good luck to you and think positive I think this could be a great surprise to how you will soon feel.........

Hi, I have a pacemaker and it is a blessing I was passing out and so very tired. Now I forget I have it. It took me a while to feel better because I was so weak but once you get your strength back you will be glad you got it. Start out slow and watch raising your arm or lifting heavy things so you don't break a lead. Good luck you will be fine
