Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

i am suffering with a fib , hypertension,sleep apnea , i nnoticed a significat decrease in quivering that i use to feel when i use to lie in bed .

i am now regular use r of sleep machine , but before using that it was just too natural to feel my heart quiver but not any more.does this indiacte
that i am out of a fib or is it a false.

may be i dont need to be that xcited , also i nearly cut down on caffeine such as soda and no alcholo .

CPAP helps your overall health and how you feel. You need an EKG to know for sure. Did you take a follow-up sleep study WITH the machine?

I have no answer, just to say that maybe that's a good thing not to feel. I haven't drank any caffeine so I'm almost tempted when everyone is brewing their coffee.
I agree with peteycap, maybe the ekg would reveal what is new.

Most people with afib have to cut out caffeine completely, also chocolate. Sometimes alchohol too.

Fortunately for me coffee is not a trigger. Alcohol and a heavy meal are, making this holiday season difficult. I can handle one drink maybe two with food. I didn't do well at our condo party 11/18 or on Thanksgiving and had episodes following both events. I do eventually go into NSR on my own after 10-12 hours experiencing mainly irregular heart beats. After the condo party after drinking quite a bit of sparkling wine I also experienced lightheadedness.
I cancelled out volunteer ushering for the the SF Opera the next evening.
This afternoon is my organizations Holiday Gala. I'll keep the sparkling wine @ 2. I have no plans for this evening.
Monday night is the Holiday Volunteer Party for SFJAZZ.
Sometimes I just say "what the heck". So far I've been fortunate. Since being diagnosed in July 2010 I've been on Warfarin. No other medications or procedures. So far so good except when I make stupid decisions ignoring my triggers.

You sound like our token 'Party Girl' and good for you. You know your own body and triggers and in spite of all this you still say "what the heck" once in a while. Keep up the good work. Everyone else is saying maybe I'll chance a coffee or should I make that apple juice oh but that stuff is laced with arsenic and it should be laced whiskey.? Have we become wimps?

I'm still at the very afraid stage. Rather, "petrified" stage. I haven't had coffee, chocolate, caffeine, or really a drop of anything sweet since this happened.
It's almost torture for me, except for the fact that I don't know what my triggers are so I'm playing it a bit safe right now.
We need a token party girl don't we? She keeps people like me centered to know that it's not doomsday yet. That life goes on and to chill out.

coffee is not a trigger for me as long as I stick to decaf, but over eating is a big trigger and I won't even try alcohol. I'm really trying to use my cpap machine but I'm having a hard time getting use to it. I'm losing more sleep trying to get use to it than when I experience sleep apnea, or so it seems.
