Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

This sound almost too good to be true. I'm not getting my hopes up just yet because The Mail tends to be a little like the Enquirer. I wasn't able to find any other articles on this, but if its true.. This will be awesome!

lvr, From what Ive been told all my AF life, your heart is structurally sound, its an electrical issue, and then the same allopaths go on to treat our hearts by cutting, slowing it down or adjusting the rhythm and ignoring the source. Im all for this device and any other like it that intercepts the signal.

There are a dozen things like this that lessen symptoms or they claim lessen frequency. None of them are a cure. Things like venom, botox, alcohol... I wouldn't expect much.

Im all for anything and everything that assists in self conversion. For the occasional fibbers of a few times a year, to avoid an expensive trip to the cardio, ER, or drugs, why not?

Hey,

I hope this is going to go somewhere. At the end of the day I cannot help but wonder if our GPs, Cardios and EPs are even aware of these new trials. I have an appointment on the 4th of Dec with one of the best if not THE best EP (so I was told) in Canada. I can't wait to ask him what's his take on tarantula venom and ear shock treatments. lol

Who knows, maybe they are close to better treatments. I don't necessarily look for a cure as they don't even fully understand why it happens but an effective treatment sure would be welcome.

Well I went and take a look and found an article dating from Sep 2015 and they are at the human trial part. If you read the article they intend to publish the results in 2017. I guess the good news is that they seems to have something, the bad news, it will not be ready next week.
